Our Thinking
Much of what has been said about advancing access to Justice is limited to the courtroom. Until today, no one seems to have thought of a professional legal publication as a tool that can be used to advance that cause.
The LegalReports’ lawyer and law firm database is part of our humble effort to create a professional infrastructure and/or ecosystem that leverages digital media technology to foster equal visibility and awareness about the people, disputes, transactions, laws, principles, and consequential court decisions as a way of promoting professional excellence, improving the public’s ability to navigate legal personalities and services, making legal expertise easier to discover and generally to improve on the public’s confidence in the legal profession.
Non-Negotiables
In strict compliance with Section 81 of the Advocates Act, Cap. 295, Regulations 22, 23(4) of the Advocates (Professional Conduct) Regulations SI 267-2, we will never endorse or promote any particular Advocate or Law firm in a manner that unfairly disadvantages the rest – through algorithmic manipulation, language, etc.
In the same spirit, we do not refer any particular advocates or firms to prospective clients.
Our profiling system is designed to be simply factual, truthful and accurate. That is why we encourage the submission of corrections and conduct editorial updates on every profile in light of new information.
We also conduct due diligence and verification on every profile submitted – claimed/verified profiles are marked with a “tick” or “badge”.
In so doing, we intentionally strike out colourful, salesy, marketing and promotional language.
All profiles are simply arranged in a neutral alphabetic order and can be sorted by practice areas.
Applicable Fees
For the sustainability of our platform, we require that lawyers and law firms whose professional information is not publicly available or insufficient to their taste, submit requests to be added (basic profile) or be enhanced (enhanced profile).
The Applicable fees are administrative costs (and not advertising fees) and are charged once save for a small fee for personal updates (such as new transactions, cases, etc).
These cater for activities such as professional information review, processing, verification, correspondences, profile preparation, formatting, publication, server and maintenance costs – and technical and technological administration.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Where a lawyer or law firm fails verification, LegalReports will retain 30% of applicable fees and will return the remaining 70%.
To avoid this, simply ensure the information and documentation you submit is accurate and authentic.
