United Bank of Africa (UBA) Limited has been ordered to refund UGX 108,230,400/= to a man after the High Court sitting in Mbale found the bank to have been fraudulent and negligent when its employees, connived with a fraudster to open a bank account in the man’s name, so as to steal the aforementioned sum of money which was meant for his compensation.

What happened?

In 2019, Mazuno Micheal Wilson, was employed by a private security company in Afghanistan. A year later, as he went about his work, he fell from the guard tower and sustained multiple injuries, including damage to the spine, which resulted in hearing impairment and psychological trauma.

As a result of these injuries, he was unable to continue working normally.
